1. About MyMotorMate
MyMotorMate is an online vehicle advertising marketplace connecting private sellers and professional motor traders with prospective buyers.
MyMotorMate provides advertising, search, messaging and promotional services. Unless expressly stated otherwise, MyMotorMate does not own, inspect, purchase, sell or supply vehicles advertised through the platform.
Any agreement to purchase a vehicle is made directly between the buyer and the seller.
2. User Accounts
Users must provide accurate and up-to-date information when registering an account.
Users are responsible for maintaining the security of their accounts and must not permit unauthorised access.
MyMotorMate may restrict or suspend accounts where there is reasonable evidence of fraudulent activity, misleading advertisements or breaches of these Terms.
Phone verification confirms control of a telephone number. It does not guarantee a user's identity, honesty or trustworthiness.
3. Private Seller Advertisements
Private individuals may advertise their own vehicles free of charge.
Private sellers must:
Have the legal right to sell the vehicle.
Provide accurate vehicle information.
Disclose known significant faults and relevant history.
Use photographs that accurately represent the advertised vehicle.
Avoid misleading descriptions and false claims.
Remove or mark advertisements as sold when appropriate.
Private sellers must not misrepresent commercial trading activity as private selling.
4. Motor Trader Accounts
Professional motor traders must register using accurate business information.
MyMotorMate may request evidence of trading status and may check company information using publicly available records.
Motor traders are responsible for complying with applicable consumer protection legislation and for accurately representing their business status.
Trade subscriptions
Starter: £20 per month, up to 20 active advertisements.
Growth: £50 per month, up to 50 active advertisements.
Professional: £100 per month, up to 100 active advertisements.
Subscription limits apply to simultaneously active advertisements.
Traders may upgrade or request a downgrade through their account dashboard.
Subscriptions renew monthly until cancelled. Any applicable billing adjustments, cancellation dates and changes to listing access will be explained during subscription management.
5. Spotlight Advertising
MyMotorMate offers optional paid promotional placement.
Private sellers: £9.99 per vehicle for 28 days.
Eligible motor traders: £5 per vehicle for 28 days.
Spotlight increases promotional visibility within relevant areas of the platform but does not guarantee enquiries, vehicle sales, particular viewing figures or a specific advertising position at every moment.
Where multiple eligible vehicles are promoted, advertisements may rotate.
Spotlight purchases do not renew automatically unless a separate recurring service is expressly agreed.
6. Accuracy of Advertisements
Vehicle advertisements are created and maintained by independent sellers.
MyMotorMate does not routinely inspect vehicles or independently verify every claim made in an advertisement.
Sellers are responsible for ensuring that their descriptions, prices, photographs, mileage and other representations are accurate and lawful.
MyMotorMate may remove or correct advertisements where appropriate but does not guarantee that every inaccurate advertisement will be identified.
7. Buyer Responsibilities
Buyers should undertake appropriate checks before purchasing a vehicle.
We recommend:
Inspecting the vehicle in person.
Checking the registration and VIN against the V5C.
Reviewing the MOT history.
Considering an independent vehicle history or HPI check.
Checking for outstanding finance and insurance write-off history.
Obtaining an independent mechanical inspection where appropriate.
Confirming the seller's identity and legal right to sell.
Avoiding suspicious payment requests.
Buyers should not rely solely on information displayed on MyMotorMate.
These recommendations do not remove any statutory rights a buyer may have against a seller, particularly when purchasing from a motor trader.
8. Payments and Refunds
Payments for subscriptions and promotional advertising are processed through authorised payment providers, including Stripe.
Applicable prices and material conditions will be displayed before payment.
Refund and cancellation rights depend on the service purchased, when performance begins, applicable consumer law and the circumstances of the transaction.
Nothing in these Terms excludes statutory cancellation or refund rights.
9. Fraudulent and Misleading Activity
MyMotorMate prohibits:
Fraudulent vehicle advertisements.
Stolen vehicle listings.
Misrepresentation of vehicle ownership.
False mileage or vehicle history claims.
Impersonation of individuals or businesses.
Misleading pricing.
Attempts to obtain payments through deception.
Misuse of platform messaging.
MyMotorMate may suspend advertisements, restrict accounts and report suspected criminal activity to appropriate authorities.
10. MyMotorMate's Role and Liability
MyMotorMate acts primarily as an advertising intermediary.
It is not ordinarily a party to transactions between buyers and independent sellers and does not guarantee vehicle condition, seller performance or completion of a sale.
MyMotorMate is not automatically responsible for inaccurate statements made by independent advertisers.
However, nothing in these Terms excludes or restricts liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or applicable statutory consumer rights.
MyMotorMate remains responsible for its own legal obligations and any liability arising from its own acts or omissions where the law requires.
11. Vehicle Information and Third-Party Data
Vehicle information may be obtained from third-party services, including DVLA, DVSA and other vehicle data providers.
Such information may be incomplete, inaccurate or out of date.
Users should independently verify important vehicle information before relying on it.
12. Finance and Third-Party Services
MyMotorMate may provide links to independent vehicle finance providers, including Zuto.
MyMotorMate does not itself provide credit or make lending decisions.
Where a third-party finance service is offered, users should review that provider's eligibility criteria, terms and regulatory disclosures.
MyMotorMate does not receive commission for finance applications unless this arrangement is expressly changed and disclosed.
13. Intellectual Property
MyMotorMate's branding, website design, software and original platform content are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
Users retain ownership of their original listing photographs and descriptions but grant MyMotorMate a non-exclusive licence to display, reproduce and promote that content for the purposes of operating and advertising the marketplace.
Users must have the necessary rights to upload any content.
14. Privacy and Personal Information
Personal information is processed in accordance with MyMotorMate's Privacy Policy.
Cookies and similar technologies are addressed separately in the Cookie Policy.
Users must not misuse contact details obtained through the platform.
15. Changes to Services and Terms
MyMotorMate may update its services and Terms where reasonably necessary.
Material changes affecting paid subscriptions will be communicated in advance where required by law.
Changes will not retrospectively remove statutory rights or override agreed contractual obligations.
16. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory consumer protections and jurisdictional rights that apply.
